A Film To Tackle Mental Health

January 17, 2018

Mental health has been something that has been talked about a lot. I’ve talked about it on my blog countless times (see here, here, here and here), and I think a lot of the time I have kind of repeated myself, but this time; I have something for you to watch.

In my area, there is a fantastic youth forum filled with young people and every year, the forum completes a project. The project this year was to create a film about mental health. We wanted to make something which could be used as a teaching tool, because if physical health is taught in schools, and talked about openly, then why can’t mental health?

I don’t think I can really say much more about the topic, but I would like some opinions on the video. Do you think it’s a good teaching tool? Could it be successful in teaching young people to think a little bit more about mental health? Let me know what you think in the comments below (we’re all incredibly welsh just a warning):

Thanks for watching, make sure to let me know what you think

Well made video and demonstrated very well the feeling of not belonging, even in a crowd. Some people are just natural loners whereas others want and need to fit in but just don’t have the self confidence to do so. It’s up to their friends and family to ensure they are included and made to feel part of the group rather than just leave them to their own devices. It may just be as easy as asking them about their opinion and listening to them not push forward your own thoughts. Listening is the key and we welsh are natural chatterboxes and tend to talk over each other. This sort of subject should be aired in school debates and videos like this can only be of benefit and make people stop and think rather than judge or exclude someone who is perceived to be a loner. Well done.
